POLICE are investigating the claims of a couple from Russia who stated that they had managed to climb and take pictures of themselves at the top of Menara Merdeka 118, Kuala Lumpur recently.
Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief Yahaya Othman said the couple, known as Ivan
Beerkus and Angela Nikolau, were being investigated for trespassing
"The police will call the couple to have their statements recorded.
"Both individuals will be investigated for trespassing," he said as quoted by Berita Harian.
A photo of Ivan and Angela from the top of the second tallest building in the world was uploaded on the website SkyscraperCity.com and later on Says.com which showed the
two couples allegedly standing on the top of the building.
The couple is believed to have used a drone to take pictures and climbed the stairs from inside the tower to the top.
In a post uploaded by Ivan on the website, he described the experience of being on
top of the tower as something 'crazy'.
Meanwhile, Angela posted on Twitter, writing that she was not arrested while
`climbing the tower in question, which has not yet been opened to the public.
"I have done 'crazy' things and not been arrested. It was a scary experience, but with a happy ending," he said.
The couple is known for their stunts on several tall buildings around the world.
Although the couple uploaded their picture, what netizens are arguing whether the
picture is a real picture or a picture that has been edited because of the scale size of the two of them compared to the building which looks a bit awkward.
