A man was so angry that he hit and kicked his stepfather in the face and chest after not being given money to buy drugs.
The 30 -year -old man who was not working was said to have done so when he was at his family's house in Kampung Ruat, here, in the incident at 8.30am today.
The man hit and kicked his 71 -year -old stepfather twice in the chest and face while his mother watched.
The 30 -second video of the incident went viral on social media today, with the man mercilessly acting out of control against his stepfather, causing his mother to ask the villagers to report the incident to the police.
Yan District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Shahnaz Akhtar Haji confirmed that his department had received a report regarding the incident.
According to him, based on the information, it was found that the victim's stepson was a hardcore drug addict and it was reported that he often beat the senior citizen if he refused to give him money to buy drugs.
“The victim who suffered pain in his chest and face then lodged a police report out of concern for his safety.
"Preliminary investigation found that the incident took place in the yard of the elderly couple's house," he said when contacted today.
Shahnaz said the suspect was later arrested at 6.45pm in the Lubuk Boidi area here, and further investigations into the incident were underway.
According to him, further investigation found that the suspect was a mental patient and had a mental disability card (OKU) this was confirmed by the victim's wife.
However, he said, the investigation is still being carried out in accordance with Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 A of the Domestic Violence Act (AKRT) 2012.
