71 Deaths Reported Over The Last 24 Hours


Malaysia adds 7,105 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported another 7,105 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of infections recorded in the country to 579,462.

Though the numbers have dipped since the record daily infections and deaths posted on Saturday, Malaysia enters a strict two-week lockdown starting today.

According to MOH data, only two from today's new cases were imported while the remainder were local transmissions.

Active cases with COVID-19 infection have now reached 80,474 cases.

According to a tweet by the Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Selangor is accountable for 2,068 positive cases from the total reported today.

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur (817), Sarawak (703), Johor (431), Pulau Pinang (400) and Sabah (318) accordingly.

Perlis is the only state with zero cases detected.

Meanwhile, Malaysia recorded a total of 6,083 recoveries today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 496,121 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 71 new deaths were reported, raising the overall death toll to 2,867 so far.

As of today, there are a total of 872 patients receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 419 of these patients require respiratory assistance.
