JEMPOL, June 25 -- Police arrested a man and seized two homemade air guns in a raid on a house in Felda Lui Timor, here, on Tuesday.

Jempol district police chief Supt Mohd Khairiel Mohd Arif said the 45-year-old local man was arrested by a team of policemen and officers from the Jempol CID Jempol district police headquarters and the Bukit Aman Serious Crime Investigation Division (D9) at 4.45 pm.

"A search of the suspect's home found two weapons suspected to be homemade air guns. The suspect admitted to possessing the two air guns for his own use to shoot wild animals such as monitor lizards and civet cats on a farm near his home.

"The suspect also said he bought one of the air guns from an Indonesian man in Triang, Pahang while another was obtained from a local man.

"During the raid, the police also seized various items including a container with 34 ball bearings and two mobile phones," he told a media conference here today.

He said the suspect, who was self-employed, had no previous crime or drug record and his urine test was negative. He was remanded for four days starting yesterday to assist in investigations under Section 8 (a) of the Arms 1960.
