JOHOR BAHRU, June 3 -- The Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) today stressed that it will always hold firm to the principle of parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy.
The statement was made in response to the stern warning issued by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar today that the State Assembly would immediately be dissolved if the power struggle among the elected representatives continued.
“Johor PH took note of the Sultan’s decree as posted on his official Facebook page today.
“We also express our full commitment towards upholding the parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy practice which is the backbone of our state and country,” the statement said.
The joint statement was issued by Johor Parti Amanah Negara chairman Aminolhuda Hassan, state PKR chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh and state DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong.
Through the posting, Sultan Ibrahim expressed his disappointment because the political turmoil was far from over, as some power-hungry leaders are still fighting for positions for their own sake.
This is the second time Sultan Ibrahim has given a warning to elected representatives following political turmoil in the state.
The first was on May 14, when he reminded the state assemblymen that it was not the time for political infighting and backstabbing for personal gain as such activities were akin to creating a virus among politicians that would infect the rest of the country.
