SINGAPORE, June 11 -- Singapore preliminarily confirmed an additional 422 cases of COVID-19 infection with the vast majority being the foreign workers residing at dormitories.

With the latest cases, it brings the tally for the republic to 39,387.

The noon data showed that there are only five cases in the community, of whom one is a Singaporean and four are work pass holders, said the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement here.

The ministry said it is still working through the details of the cases and would share further updates later in the day.

In full data released late Wednesday, Singapore classified 1,758 as community cases, 580 as imported cases and 36,627 as foreign workers at dorms.

In total, 26,532 cases of COVID-19 or about 68 per cent of yesterday's tally of 38,965 have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

As of Wednesday, there were 223 confirmed cases still hospitalised with three in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Meanwhile, 12,185 cases with mild symptoms, or clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and being cared for at community facilities.

Thus far, 25 have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection in the republic.

Three new clusters identified yesterday involving dormitories at 9 Sungei Kadut Street 3; 19A Tech Park Crescent; and 113 Tuas View Walk 1.
