KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd has appointed Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan as its new chairman effective tomorrow, succeeding Tan Sri Mohd Munir Abdul Majid whose tenure ends today.
Tajuddin previously served as Bursa Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer and executive director between 2011 and 2019, and prior to that, he was in leadership roles at RHB Banking Group, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd and Bank Simpanan Nasional.
In announcing the appointment in a statement today, Bank Muamalat chief executive officer Khairul Kamarudin said under Tajuddin’s leadership as the new chairman, the bank would aspire to continuously provide a strong Shariah compliance risk culture to become the preferred Islamic financial services provider in the country.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Mohd Munir for his invaluable contributions and service to the bank especially in leading the implementation of new strategies that has placed Bank Muamalat on the right track to deliver sustainable performance,” he added.
Bank Muamalat is 70 per cent owned by DRB-Hicom Bhd and 30 per cent by Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
