BEAUFORT: Umno has lodged a police report against Parti Warisan Sabah over several alleged election offences.
Beaufort Umno Youth lodged the report at the Beaufort police station at about 9.30am Monday (Jan 6).
Division youth chief Mohd Fadzli Misdeh said the election offences include handing out food and drink coupons on Jan 4, which was also nomination day.
He said Parti Warisan Sabah had later the same day attended a Christmas party in Membakut where its leaders used the platform to give campaign speeches.
He said Warisan leaders had also helped hand out lucky draw gifts such as a motorcycle, electrical appliances and hampers at the event.
“I hope the authorities can take a fair stand on this matter and carry out investigations, ” Mohd Fadzli said.
It is learnt that another similar report will be lodged at the Papar police station later Monday.
On Sunday (Jan 5), Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had said that they attended the Christmas programme which was organised by the churches and local communities in Membakut out of goodwill.
“We went there as we were invited, if they (Umno) want to lodge reports, let them, we too can lodge police reports, ” he had said.
