KUALA KUBU BARU: A 39-year-old bogus doctor from Terengganu was sentenced to two months in jail for outraging the modesty of two women and impersonating as a gynaecologist.

Mohd Fauzi Abd Ghani, an assistant operation staff member with the Kuala Terengganu Veterinarian Department, pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court on Tuesday (Aug 6) to the four charges.

Based on the facts of the case, Mohd Fauzi called his victims on the pretext of informing their HIV screening test before telling them about their breast health issues.

Under the first charge, Mohd Fauzi, who was unrepresented, called up a 21-year-old woman from Batang Kali at 12.57pm on June 13 to inform her that she had breast cancer.

He then asked her to strip and lie down on a bed before asking her to massage the lumps in her breasts.

However, Mohd Fauzi ended the call when he heard the victim's mother's voice in the background.

Under the second charge, he called up a 21-year-old woman from Serendah on June 25 at 9.27pm to inform her that she had lumps in her breasts.

He asked her to strip and slap her breasts with her handphone in order to break up the fatty lumps in her breasts.

He also asked her to squat and use her hand to rub her private part to ensure better sex with her future husband.

He ended the call when the victim's fiancé confronted him over the phone.

He later sent a lewd message to the victim.

Mohd Fauzi was arrested on July 13 at a hotel in Klang.

Sessions Court judge Nurul Madhiah Mohammed Redza sentenced Mohd Fauzi to two months' imprisonment for each charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code for using words to insult the modesty of the victims.

He was sentenced to one month jail for two charges under Section 170 for posing as a doctor with a government hospital.

During mitigation, Mohd Fauzi pleaded for a lenient sentence, saying he had to care for his sickly aged mother.

However, prosecuting officer Inspector Nur Sabrina Abd Rashid sought a deterrent sentence.

Nurul Madhiah ordered Mohd Fauzi's sentences to run concurrently from the date of his arrest.

On Monday (Aug 5), Hulu Selangor Acting OCPD Deputy Supt Azman Ab Rahman said that 21 police reports had been lodged by victims nationwide against the suspect since January this year.
