Man, 40, charged with elderly couple murders

SEREMBAN: A 40-year-old man was charged at the magistrate's court here with the murders of an elderly couple in Nilai on July 24.

Tan Kian Ngip, who is believed to be the adopted son of Tan Kim Joo, 73, and Ng Chong Hwa, 67, was charged for the alleged crimes at separate courts.


He was first charged before magistrate Mahyun Yusof for allegedly murdering Ng at her house in Taman Desa Melati in Nilai between 4pm and 7.45pm on July 24.

According to the charge, he had allegedly used a knife to stab the victim.


Later, he was produced before magistrate V. Vanita for allegedly murdering Kim Joo at the same place and time.

No plea was recorded from the accused.

Three other individuals, including the suspect's wife, Lim Boon Ee, 35, Kek Ying Haur, 41, and Hyen Kok Chu, 37, were also charged before Mahyun with helping the accused to dispose a knife used in the alleged crime.

All three claimed trial to the charge.

They were charged under section 201 of the Penal Code.

Firemen found the victims' bodies with stab and slash wounds at separate locations in the house, when they arrived to put out a blaze.

Mahyun then fixed Sept 10 for re-mention. She also allowed Lim, Kek and Huen to be released on a RM8, 000 bail with two sureties each.

Tan' case was also fixed for re-mention on the same date
