PETALING JAYA: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has announced the retirement of Datuk Idris Kechot, the group’s Asset Management deputy president and group chief operating officer, effective Dec 31.

With the departure of Idris, PNB has appointed Hanizan Hood its chief investment officer effective Jan 1, 2019.


“In her new role, Hanizan assumes leadership of the day-to-day oversight of all the operating units within the asset management division, namely fund management, strategic asset allocation, equity market operations, fixed income, investment analysis and economics departments,” said PNB in a statement.

Hanizan started out as a graduate trainee with PNB in 1996.


“Over her 22-year career, she has served in various capacities in the areas of equity research, money market, fixed income and portfolio management.

“An Economics graduate from Northwestern University, US, Hanizan also holds the capital markets services representative’s licence and recently completed the advanced management program at Harvard Business School,” said PNB.

Meanwhile, Idris has been with the PNB group, including wholly-owned unit trust management company, Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd, for more than 34 years.

In the same statement, PNB group chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Aziz said Idris has been a long standing and valuable member of PNB’s senior management team.

“On behalf of the board of directors, management and staff of PNB, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Idris for his tremendous contribution to the PNB Group,” she said.
