GEORGE TOWN: A man who allegedly hit a cashier who told him that customers could buy only two packets of cooking oil has been arrested here.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A.A. Anbalagan said the 47-year-old businessman admitted that he hit the cashier because he was unable to control his anger.

"The suspect was arrested on Jalan Nuri, Sungai Ara, in Bayan Lepas here at 2pm on Thursday (Jan 10).

The man, from Sungai Dua in Butterworth tested negative for drugs and has no prior police record.

On Wednesday (Jan 9), Supt Anbalagan said police had identified the suspect who allegedly hit the 29-year-old cashier.

"The suspect came to the store to buy three packets of cooking oil but the cashier said customers were limited to two packets each.

"The man then went into a rage and hit the victim's back.

"He then left the store and said 'lu jaga (be careful)'.

"As a result of the incident, the victim has back pain and feels threatened by the suspect," Supt Anbalagan said.
