PETALING JAYA: A Bangladeshi man was robbed of RM40,000 by a woman - who is believed to be his lover - together with three other male accomplices, including her husband.

The victim, 31, who has been staying in Malaysia for the past 13 years, was supposed to meet the woman in a hotel on Jalan Pudu at around 2pm on Tuesday (Jan 8).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Shaharuddin Abdullah said the man had brought RM40,000 in cash with him as the woman had asked to borrow the money.

"However, the woman lured the victim out of the hotel and ambushed him with the help of three men, including her husband," he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 10).

He said at around 7pm on the same day, police managed to track down the woman's husband in Sunway Technology Park here and seized his van, which was used in the robbery.

"Following the arrest, we managed to track down his wife, recover the stolen mobile phone and RM1,450 cash," he said.

Two more robbers are still at large, while the husband and wife, aged 30 and 29 respectively, have been remanded until Jan 12 to assist investigations.
