PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating the case of a teenager who attacked his mother, footage of which went viral on social media.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias confirmed that a report had been made by the boy's family relating to the spread of the video.
The 40-second video clip, shot on Tuesday morning, showed a 15-year-old boy hitting his mother. The cause of the argument is believed to be over pocket money.
It is learnt that the video was shot by another family member.
The report was made as the family is worried for the boy's safety after the video went viral.
"We have taken the statement of the mother and we are still awaiting the results of a drug test on the boy.
"However the parents have refused to press charges," he said.
He added that the mother did not suffer any injuries.
