PETALING JAYA: Jailed former Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) was involved in an accident at Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh on Friday afternoon, said his lawyer Sivarasa Rasiah.
He said the accident happened at 12.30pm when Anwar was being transported back to the Sungai Buloh prison after being hospitalised for four days at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).
"It happened at the traffic light junction near Saujana Utama. The prison officer driving the car carrying Anwar had to brake sharply to avoid an oncoming car.
"This caused the escort car behind to knock into the car carrying Anwar," he said, adding that the car was damaged on its rear as a result.
Sivarasa said that Anwar did not suffer any serious physical injuries, but he was shaken by the incident.
"He has taken painkillers after being examined by the doctor at the Sungai Buloh prison," he added.
Health Ministry deputy director-general Datuk Dr Jeyaindran Tan Sri Sinnathurai is expected to meet Anwar at 5pm to decide whether he needs further medical assistance at the hospital.
