Off-Duty Policeman Killed After MyVi Crashes Into His Motorcycle

KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a Perodua Myvi at Jalan Bukit Idaman, Selayang.
Lance Corporal Freddie Delvis Digat, 27, was said to have been making a right turn when the Myvi, from the opposite direction, crashed into him at about 7.30am.
Freddie, a Sarawakian, had just finished his duty about 30 minutes earlier before the incident.
Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Ali Ahmad said the victim sustained serious head injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police, he said, had recorded statement of the 43-year-old woman who was driving the Myvi.
Freddie was a patrol policeman attached to Selayang police station.
Ali, his deputy Superintendent Tey Kok Seng and other personnel from Gombak district paid their last respects to Freddie in a ceremony at the district police station today.
“His body had been flown to Sarawak and he will be buried in his hometown, Kota Samarahan,” he said.
Freddie is survived by his wife and two children.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous driving.
