JOHOR BARU: For taking advantage of his students, a chess instructor is in the dock, facing two charges of gross indecency.
Kenny Yee Jeun Fui, 35, claimed trial to both charges before Sessions judge Mohammad Khalid Ab Karim yesterday.
In the first charge, Yee was alleged to have touched and groped the private parts of a nine-year-old boy during a chess class in Kulai at about 4.15pm on June 30.
He was charged under Section 377E of the Penal Code for inciting a child under the age of 14 into an act of gross indecency.
The offence carries a jail term of up to 15 years and whipping.
For the second charge, the accused was said to have groped a 14-year-old inside a car in Kulai area at about 10.30pm on March 21.
The offence, under Section 377D of the same Act, carries a jail term of up to two years.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Asmah Zainal Ariffin prosecuted while lawyer HK Yoong represented the accused.
Mohammad Khalid set bail at RM10,000 and fixed Sept 5 for mention.
The accused posted bail.
