Massive police presence at KLCC for SEA Games drill

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will be conducting the 2017 Ex-Rimau security drill at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) tomorrow and Monday.
This is in preparation for the SEA Games next month.
City police said in a statement on Saturday that the drill would be held from 8am to 2pm on both days.
The drill is aimed at training officers and personnel to prepare for any crisis and threat that may take place during the games.
“It is to test the effectiveness of police action in facing the situations and the response plan of the district police as first responders.
"It is also to test the role of brigade commanders as Crisis Response Team (CRT) chiefs,” the statement said.
The announcement of the drill is to inform the public on the strong police presence including personnel from the Special Action Unit, VAT 69 commando unit, Bomb Disposal Unit, Air Operations Force and General Operations Force (GOF).
The SEA Games, to be held from Aug 19 to 30, will see an influx of athletes from 10 Asean countries competing in 405 events and 38 sports.
