THE culinary scene will be abuzz as wagyu marble 9 rib-eye steaks make its way into the menu at The 39 Restaurant.
Diners can enjoy the Australian Wagyu Marble 9 Rib-Eye Steak for RM180nett (180g), as well as the brand new Fresh Baked Lobster for RM180nett (700g-800g) from now until September.
The wagyu marble 9 is juicier than regular wagyu steaks.
Chef Rashid Hashim said they were the cheapest in town when it came to wagyu marble 9.
“We want everyone to try it, so we have focused on making both the wagyu steak and baked lobster affordable for all,” said Rashid.
Served with a side of vegetables, potato wedges and pan au jus black pepper sauce, the wagyu marble 9 looks humble but tastes heavenly.
I could tell that this was unlike any other steak because it was almost as soft as Kobe beef, and the untampered flavour of the meat came through well with the no-nonsense beef juice sauce reduction.
“We do not add any preservatives to the beef, just rock salt and pepper to taste.
“Sometimes people use certain spices to season steaks, but we want diners to taste the meaty flavour with no hindrance,” Hashim said.
Diners can choose between any level of doneness for the steaks, but Hashim recommends medium.
On the other hand, the Boston lobster looks nowhere near humble.
The fanciful portion comes with a side of lemon dill cream sauce, fresh salad and French fries.
The lobster meat is succulent and juicy, but the smokiness from the charred bits of the meat seals the deal.
It was well-seasoned and had a slight spiciness and tanginess to it.
“The lobsters are ordered live, so it is as fresh as can be. We use a special ingredient to flavour it, but I won’t tell you what it is,” Hashim said as he laughed.
He added that he planned to keep both the wagyu marble 9 and the lobster on the a la carte menu if all goes well.
Since joining the culinary team of PNB Perdana Hotel & Suites in December 2016, Hashim set his mind on bringing authenticity back to the menu.
However, he never planned to become a chef.
“As a child, I used to laugh at my classmates when they told the teacher of their ambitions in becoming chefs.
“I put my heart and love into cooking now and I am really proud to introduce the wagyu marble 9 and Boston lobster in The 39 Restaurant,” added Hashim.
The Wagyu Marble 9 Rib-Eye Steak and Fresh Baked Boston Lobster are available daily from 12.30pm to 3pm and 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
