MACC TO Bring in More Sharks In Coming Months

MACC: More action on Felda in months ahead

PETALING JAYA: After what has been described as a “warming up period” in the last few months, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said it will bring in more "sharks" in the coming months.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said even during the "slow" period of the fasting month, he had ordered the Felda case to be reopened for investigation.
He said this was done to ensure those who were guilty of corruption would face justice.
That was “just the beginning,” Dzulkifli said, adding that "temperatures will rise" in August and September.
Dzulkifli was speaking to reporters at the launch of the MyAduan Rasuah Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) on Sunday. Present was JMM president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah.
On July 14, early investigations showed that Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) had purchased a high-end property in Kensington, London, and had paid more than the actual market value of the property, causing it to suffer millions of ringgit in losses.
Dzulkefli said a detailed probe will be conducted to identify elements of corruption or abuse of power in the process of acquiring the property.
So far, two people have been remanded as part of investigations into the case. Several senior management officials of FIC have also given statements to the MACC.
