SHAH ALAM: A team of fourteen policemen were subjected to the harrowing experience of being trapped in a court lift for 20 minutes, here today.

Shah Alam deputy police chief Supt Nek Zaidi Zakaria said the trapped policemen, who were assigned to security detail during the mention of the Kim Jong-nam murder case at the Shah Alam High Court, were involved in an operation dubbed Ops Prank, and had been in a state of readiness since early morning.

He said the incident led one of the policemen to suffer from heart complications. He was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for treatment.

“The others were in stable condition and resumed their duties,” he told Bernama.

Nek Zaidi said the team of policemen had been on duty since 6am to ensure smooth handling of the sensitive case.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director, Mohd Sani Harul said the victims were rescued within 10 minutes.

He said an emergency call was received at 8.08am. A team of eight firemen from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.

Jong-nam was the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Jong-nam died on Feb 13 after being attacked with a chemical agent while waiting to board a flight to Macau at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2.

The suspected assailants, identified as two foreign women, have since been arrested and are set to face trial.
