Three enforcement officers remanded for five days over bribery probe
KOTA KINABALU: Three Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement officers have been remanded for five days to allow Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations into alleged graft.
Kota Kinabalu Courts registrar Rita Kunsoi granted the five-day remand application by MACC prosecutors on Friday to investigate the officers from the ministry's Beaufort office.
All officers were brought to the court by MACC personnel at about 10.30am.
The three aged 35,37 and 39 allegedly demanded the RM600 bribe as an inducement to not take action against a shopkeeper for failing to display price tags among other purported offences on July 14.
All three officers were arrested on Thursday following a report lodged by the shopkeeper a few days earlier.
