JPJ deputy D-G fined for breaking traffic law
PUTRAJAYA: Road Transport Department (JPJ) deputy director-general of planning and operations, Datuk Yusoff Ayb (pix), was fined RM600, in default seven days' jail for driving on the emergency lane at Lingkaran Putrajaya.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Ab Rahman meted out the fine on Yusoff, 58, after a special officer who appeared on his behalf pleaded guilty to the charge on Tuesday.
He paid the fine.
Yusoff , who was at the wheel of a vehicle with registration number BLY68, was charged with driving on the emergency lane at 6.27pm on Oct 7 last year.
The offence comes under under Rule 53(1) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 and punishable with a fine of up to RM2,000, or imprisonment up to six months, or both, if found guilty.
