PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist who rammed into a woman and her young son here might have sped off but he did not get away – he left his vehicle licence plate behind.
Police are now tracing the whereabouts of the motorcyclist involved in the incident near a shopping complex in Kota Damansara.
Selangor traffic chief Supt Kamaludin Mohamad said although no report has been lodged so far, police were tracking down the suspect.
The motorcycle owner is urged to surrender to the police immediately, according to a report by mStar, The Star’s Bahasa Malaysia portal.
Facebook user Ash Halip posted about the incident where the child of a friend was hit by the motorcyclist on June 8.

He also posted a photo of the child wrapped in bandages and with a bloodied nose as well as the alleged number plate of the motorcycle concerned.
The post has since gone viral and been shared widely by netizens, many of whom condemned the rider’s action.
On Facebook, Aiman Haikal Harap wrote: “Find the person involved. So pitiful to see the injured boy.”
Another user, Anizan Musa, said: “Despicable. Met with an accident and ran away ... eee so furious.”
Netizens also did a summons check on the licence plate number through an SMS service, which allegedly revealed four outstanding summonses.
The insurance for the machine is also said to have expired.

On April 6, a 58-year-old woman died from her injuries after she was involved in a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle at a zebra crossing in Pulau Tikus, Penang.
There was widespread outcry on social media and the 44-year-old rider was arrested the next day.
He was charged with reckless driving resulting in death on April 10. He pleaded not guilty.
The offence carries a jail term of between two and 10 years, a maximum fine of RM20,000, and suspension of the person’s driving licence.
The case has been fixed for mention on July 13.
