Over the years the Istana Hotel has built a reputation of providing one of the biggest Halal Ramadan Buffet offerings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Their Ramadan Buka Puasa Buffet themed "Citarasa Ramadan" is from the May 27 to June 25, 2017.
The Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur City Centre’s Executive Chef, Al Fitri Al Bakri and his culinary team prepared a Ramadan halal buffet spread with over 100 dishes show-casing the authentic local dishes and flavours that reminded you of home.
Priced at RM169 nett, you can be assured of a really good deal.
The highlight of Istana Hotels Halal Ramadan Buffet are the Live Cooking stations. They have over about 30 live cooking stations.
The Judges started with the Carvery Station with with the Balinese Marinated Roast lamb and briyani it was tasty start to this review.
The judges managed to visit and taste the offering from almost all the stations, following are the station or dishes that was outstanding.
The Vietnamese Spring Roll was the best dish of the night, the humble spring roll simply exploded in your mouth with a variety of flavors

The Bubur Lambuk Pantai Timur which was Seafood based and Nasi Kerabu Daging Bakar got a big thumbs up from the judges.
Other dishes that were outstanding included the Satay. The Satay sauce seemed watery but it was delicious so that didnt matter.
The judges loved the Claypot Chicken Rice and Loh Bak - Carrot Cake it got a double thumbs up
The Nasi Briyani Arab, Chinese Har Lok, Soup Gear Box, , Chakoi, The Goreng Pisang Cheese and all the items at The Indian Stall was equally delicious
The Nescafe and Teh Tarik was another thing that got a big double thumbs up.
The variety of traditional and western desserts overwhelming but they were very good too

Other Istana Hotel's signatures dishes that were also available included Local Style Smoked Catfish in Spicy Coconut Gravy, Butter Prawns, Okra and Herbs, Indian Lamb Bandai Korma.

They also had Kerabu – Kerabu Isi Ketam, Kerabu Betik, Kerabu Udang, Kerabu Daging Tomato and Kerabu Ayam Pegaga, to name a few.
Other Live Action Stations, were local favourites such as Chay Kuey Teow, Lemang & Rendang and its condiments, sizzling grill delights – Portuguese style, Sotong Kangkung, Clay Pot Yong Tau Foo, Pasta, Murtabak, Chinese Wok Fried, Noodle, Fried Station and Kacang Pool
In addition to an authentic Malay fare, diners can also choose from a selection of Indian, Western, Chinese and Fusion cuisines, so there is something for everyone.
For Desserts Hotel Istana has a variety of Durian Delights in the form of Glutionous Rice With Serawa Durian, Dodol Durian, Durian Strudel, Cendol Durian, ABCD – Air Batu Campur with Durian and Durian Crepes.
Diners can also have the usual sweet selections that include the Traditional Malay Kuih such as Keria, Onde-Onde, Cucur Badak, Bingka Ubi, Tepung Talam, Kuih Lapis, Putu Piring.
