MACC detains former municipal council president
KUALA LUMPUR: A former president of a municipal council in Negri Sembilan has been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for suspected corruption and power abuse.
Also detained were three contractors who were believed to have been awarded several projects by the former cA former president of a municipal council in Negri Sembilan has been detained by ouncil president.
According to a source, the suspect, aged 63, and who has the "Datuk" title, was arrested at his residence in Seremban at about 11.30am Monday.
"The suspect is believed to have committed the offences when he was district officer and then municipal council president between September 2009 and August last year," he told Bernama.
MACC investigation director Datuk Simi Abd Ghani confirmed the arrest, adding that the commission was identifying several others connected to the investigation. - Bernama
