KUALA LUMPUR: A 39-year-old Indonesian contract worker was killed after being hit by a car on the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh) here.

City Fire and Rescue Department chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said Eko Pujiono was doing some cleaning work when a BMW rammed him early Saturday morning.

The collision threw him off the elevated highway, and his body landed underneath a bridge by a river near the Jelatek LRT station. He died on the spot.

Samsol Maarif said six firefighters were dispatched to the scene after a distress call was received at about 4.30am.

His body was collected and handed over to the police at around 5.30am.

In another development, police have questioned a 24-year-old man on the accident.

City Traffic Investigation and Legal Affairs staff officer Deputy Supt Shafie Daud said the man was speeding when the car lost control and ploughed into a concrete barrier on the left side of the road.
