KUALA LUMPUR: One Malaysian was reportedly injured in the recent terror attack in Nice, France, according to Singaporean media.
The Straits Times reported that Esmond Chuah, a third-year student from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), suffered minor injuries in the attack.
He was reported to be among the 12 SUTD students who are in Nice for a summer programme that began on July 3.
The group was due to return next week.
The report added that Chuah’s condition is “not life threatening” and that he is in contact with his parents.
Chuah's father had earlier apparently pleaded on Facebook for information about his son.
Chuah Tze Leng, at around 4 pm posted, "Please find my son Esmond Chuah Hooi Ong (SUTD Singapore) who injured himself in the Nice, France attack this morning. Wish to know his condition now."
All 12 students, including seven Singaporeans, a Vietnamese and an Indonesian, are safe and accounted for, according to SUTD.
"We are in contact with all relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies and working with International SOS to provide on-ground support and counselling.
"We are also doing all we can to support and update the students and their parents," SUTD President Prof Thomas Magnanti was quoted as saying.
The school has advised the students to stay in their hostel and to pay close attention to instructions from the French authorities, he said.
