Duterte leads oath-taking of LCP, LPP new set of officers in a ceremony held at Malacañan Palace, Wednesday evening.


MANILA, Philippines (July 27) – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte leads the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) on Wednesday evening.

Duterte proceeded to the Heroes Hall of the Malacañan Palace for the oath-taking immediately after the National Security Council Meeting where he was joined by his predecessors Fidel V. Ramos, Joseph E. Estrada, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III.

In the 63rd LCP General Assembly held at the Crowne Plaza in Ortigas Center, Metro Manila last July 22, 2016 the city mayor elected their set of officers that shall whose term lasts from 2016 to 2019.

Elected as president was Mayor Edgrado “EdPam” Pamintuan of Angeles City, Pampanga while Mayor Allan Rellon of Tagum City, Davao del Norte was chosen as the league’s vice-president.

Mayor Lani Cayetano of Taguig City, the wife of Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano, was elected chairman while Mayor Ronnel Rivera of General Santos City was elected as vice-chairman.

Mayor Francis Garcia of Balanga City, Bataan won the race for position of secretary general.

In a separate occasion on the same night, Pres. Duterte also led the oath-taking of the new set of officers of the League of Provinces of the Philippines.The official seal of the League of Provinces of the Philippines.


The LPP’s National President for 2016-2019 term is Gov. Ryan Luis V. Singson of the Province of Ilocos Sur and Gov. Al Francis Bichara of the Province of Albay is the National Chairman.

After officially taken oath, the officials of both leagues are expected to reassure the president of their support to his administration particularly on the intensive the anti-illegal drug campaign.

A week before his State of the Nation Address on July 25, Duterte shows a matrix where names of governors and mayors were reflected. He was expected to name names on his SONA but he did not.
