PETALING JAYA, July 25 — A factory worker and an unemployed man pleaded guilty to throwing a hand grenade at a club in Puchong last month and injuring eight people.

Imam Mahyudin Karjono, 20 and Jonius Ondrie @ Jahili, 24, who are reported to have links with the Islamic State terror group, pleaded guilty to throwing a hand grenade at Movida on June 28 at 2am at the Sessions Court here.

Judge Azhaniz Azman Teh fixed September 21 for sentencing and denied the duo bail.

Earlier, Imam Mahyudin and Jonius were charged at the magistrates’ court with one count of supporting terror activities by hurling the grenade and injuring eight people.

Unemployed Imam, in the same court, was separately charged for spreading terror ideology via the Telegram mobile app between March 23 and June 28 at his flat in Puchong Indah.

No plea was recorded and no bail was offered.

Magistrate Zaki Asraf Zubir set September 26 for mention after Selangor head prosecutor Roslan Mat Nor asked for the case to be referred to the High Court.

Roslan was the prosecutor in both courts.

On June 28, eight customers at Movida were severely injured while watching the Euro 2016 football tournament on TV.

Police have since heightened security checks at all entry and exit points in the country while special and periodic checks are carried out in several areas in the city and Klang Valley.
