Miss Global Intercontinental Malaysia kicked off its Pageant Week on Wednesday by unveiling 14 finalists which will compete for the MGIM 2016 title and three major international titles.
Miss Global Intercontinental Malaysia (formerly known as Miss Global International Malaysia) is one of the largest and most prestigious pageant in Malaysia. MGIM is founded and organised by a homegrown production company from Miri Sarawak, MerveilleuxM Production, which was started then by two Sarawakian youth, Marlene and Lewis, and secretary extraordinaire, Xiao Jie. Together, they also organised the World Vision 30 Hour Famine 2010, Christmas Charity Concert, Miri Beauty Queens Charity Drive, Model Search of the Year, annual Christmas Charity visits to Miri General Hospital (since 2005) and many more.
The National Director of MGIM Organisation is Marlene Lim, who hails from Miri Sarawak. She has over 14 years experience in beauty pageant and is a former model and beauty queen herself. An avid charity volunteer who is surprisingly very shy in front of the camera, Marlene is also a passionate pharmacist who owns her own retail pharmacy. Marlene personally groomed all the finalists and beauty queens of MGIM since its inception.
Since 2010, MGIM has groomed and sent many Malaysian representatives and beauty queens to international competitions in Korea, Japan, Jamaica, Germany, Albania, China, Belarus, Czech Republic, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, with many of them landed in top positions and winning subsidiary titles. Among the recent placements are MGIM 2014 Queen Rubini Sambanthan clinching 1st RU in Miss Tourism International 2016 in Sri Lanka and placing Top 10 in Miss Global Beauty Queen 2015 in China, MGIM 2015 1st RU Tanisha Kaur was placed top 10 in Miss Supranational 2015 in Poland and also won 4th RU in Miss Model of the World 2015 in China and MGIM 2015 2nd RU Livonia Ricky won subsidiary title of Miss Congeniality in Miss Tourism Queen International 2015 in China.
All MGIM Queens Alumni have became Malaysia walking ambassadors, sharing beauty, friendships, culture and wonderful stories of Malaysia to the world.
MGIM 2016 is the home title to third largest pageant in the world, Miss International and two other grand slam titles, namely Miss Supranational and Miss Intercontinental. This competition will also oversee the selection of Malaysian representatives to Miss Tourism Queen International, World Miss University and Miss Model of the World.
