HULU SELANGOR: Police are hunting down a trio of thieves who made off with some RM15,000 worth of jewellery from a store in Kuala Kubu Baru.
The 33-year-old business owner and her assistant were manning the counter when a man entered the store at about 11.10am Friday on the pretext of purchasing jewellery for his wife and daughter.
Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt R. Supramaniam said on Saturday that the man asked the storeowner to show him a necklace from the display case.
“He told the owner he wanted to buy a necklace each for his wife and daughter.
“The owner took out a necklace from the display case for him to hold.
“She told him that the necklace was worth between RM11,000 and RM15,000,” he explained.
The man told the owner that he did not have that much cash on him and said that he will return in the afternoon.
He came back to the jewellery store at around 1.05pm, accompanied by a woman.
Supt Supramaniam said the man asked to see the same necklace again, to which the owner obliged.
“He told the woman who was with him to go into the car and take money.
“That was when another man came into the store and took the necklace from him.
“All three of them took off with the jewellery and made away in a silver Perodua Myvi,” he elaborated.
According to Supt Supramaniam, the car’s registration number ACK 988 was false.
Police have retrieved the closed ciruit television (CCTV) footage from the store.
Those with information on the case are requested to come forward and assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
