Policemen not banned from playing Pokemon Go, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have no plans to ban its officers from playing Pokemon Go if it is introduced in the country.
This is provided that the game does not involve illegal betting or poses any threat to the nation's security.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the federal police, so far, does not see any reason to impose such a ban on its personnel.
"Pokemon Go? It has yet to enter Malaysia, right? Well, it is not a problem for now.
"We have not seen any reason to impose a ban (on policemen) from playing it.
"It's just a game. Unless it involves elements of gambling or poses security threats, we don't have any objection," he told reporters at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Jalan Semarak, here, Thursday.
Khalid was responding to a reporter's question on whether Bukit Aman would emulate the Indonesian government move in banning its policemen from playing the game.
The game, which utilises real world locations in order to 'catch' the elusive Pokemon characters, has become a worldwide hit.
Since its release on July 6, there have been incidences in several countries of traffic accidents and players arrested for trespassing while searching and chasing after the Pokemons.
