JOHOR BARU: A technician was charged in the magistrate’s court here with the murder of an engineer who allegedly seduced his girlfriend.
Wong Jian Boon, 32, who was wearing a black t-shirt, nodded as the charge was read to him in Mandarin. No plea was recorded.
Wong, who is from Kulai but working in Singapore, allegedly killed Tan Chuen Take, 31, on June 22 between 8pm and 11.30pm at No.2759, Jalan Cempaka 36/17, Jalan Indahpura, Kulai.
He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The body of Tan, who was an engineer in an oil exploration company in Singapore, was found buried in a forest near Kulai, beside the northbound of the Second Link Expressway after the arrest of Wong and his 22-year-old girlfriend on July 1.
Yesterday, Magistrate Noor Aisyah Ahmad fixed Aug 29 for the case to be mentioned while waiting for post-mortem reports.
DPP Siti Asmah Zainal Ariffin prosecuted while the accused was presented by counsel Muhammad Ashraff Mohd Diah.
Tan’s family had on June 26, reported that he had gone missing.
Just a day before that, closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from his residential area showed Tan leaving his house at around 5pm.
