KLANG: The mother of the 14-year-old girl who faked her own abduction apologised on her Facebook page.
"I am sorry for any negative consequence that have taken place throughout the time my daughter went missing.
"I thank all Malaysians who kept tabs on my daughter’s case and I also wish to thank the police for tirelessly looking for my daughter,” said Asmah Mamai, 33.
Nur Amirah Atirah Abdul Majid, who was reported to have been kidnapped, was found to have staged her own abduction because she wanted to spend time with a man she met a month ago.
The girl from Bandar Sultan Suleiman in Port Klang was found with her 19-year-old boyfriend in his car in front of a petrol kiosk in Kanchong Darat, Banting at 7.45pm on Thursday after she was said to have gone missing since Sunday.
When met by reporters earlier, Asmah said she had to be strong and accept the truth.
"I have to accept. As a mother I have to be strong … I had to accept this truth,” she added.
“She is placed under the supervision of the Welfare Department after her family agreed with the arrangement,” he said when contacted.
ACP Yusoff noted that police were also looking into whether the girl was raped.
“We expect to complete the investigation papers and submit them to the Deputy Public Prosecutor on Tuesday,” he added.
