MACC confirms its officials went to Middle East to meet RM2.6bil donor
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Monday confirmed sending its officials to the Middle East to meet with the donor of RM2.6bil fund.
MACC investigation director Datuk Azam Baki said they would submit a report on the matter to the Attorney-General as soon as the investigation was completed.
"However, the MACC cannot disclose the results of the meeting as the investigation is still ongoing.
"If there is any news, we will announce it from time to time," he said.
Azam, however, refused to make any further comment.
On Aug 5, the MACC confirmed that RM2.6bil had been credited to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's account, allegedly by a donor in the Middle East.
Last Saturday, the commission had also recorded Najib's statement on SRC International Sdn Bhd and the RM2.6bil fund deposited into his account.
It was reported that the meeting lasted two-and-a-half hours and the Prime Minister had given good cooperation to the MACC.
SRC was a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) until it was placed directly under the Finance Ministry in 2012. - Bernama
