ALOR SETAR: A Malaysian businessman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Songkhla province, southern Thailand.
The incident is believed to have occurred at about noon local time Friday. The 54-year-old man was identified as Lee Ah Han from Alor Setar, Kedah.
It is learnt that two gunmen in a car sprayed bullets at his Mercedes Benz, killing him behind the wheel.
Thunglung police chief Colonel Wichapan Chantaraporn said Lee was hit by more than 10 shots in the head and body.
It is learnt that a woman who was seated beside him was injured in the incident and was rushed to the Prince of Songkhla University Hospital.
The couple were heading to the Hat Yai Airport when the shooting occurred near Ban Khlong Pom on the Kanchanawanit Sadao-Hat Yai Road.
The deceased, his wife and two daughters, who are in their 20s, migrated to Bangkok a few years ago.
Lee was said to be involved in property business.
A relative of the deceased said the victim planned to take a flight back to the Thai capital.
It is believed that the shooting was due to a business dispute.
