KUALA LUMPUR: A molotov cocktail was thrown at a car in the latest arson attack in Taman Sri Rampai here.
Police, however, said the blue MyVi was not badly damaged.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said neighbours reportedly heard a blast at about 7.30am Friday and peeked out their windows to see the car aflame.
He said members of the neighbourhood watch came 20 minutes later to extinguish the fire.
"They then tried to call out to the owner of the car in the house to inform him of what happened, but he did not respond.
"Later, we came to close off the area at about 11am and the man said that he did not hear the incident because he was asleep.
“He claimed he was too tired after coming home from a relative's funeral the night before," Supt Mohamad Roy said.
Neighbours here said that this was the fourth arson attack in the area believed to be connected to loan sharks.
The businessman victim, however, denied owing money when approached by reporters.
Supt Mohamad Roy said police have classified the case as arson and is being investigated.
