Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad and Datuk Lee Kok Kwan have been appointed as directors of CIMB Group and CIMB Bank with effect from Monday.
Tengku Datuk Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the group chief executive of CIMB Group said Mohd Nasir and Lee have played pivotal roles in governance and advisory and have deep experience in finance.
"We have been fortunate to have exceptional talents on our board of directors in ensuring a robust governance structure and safeguarding the interest of all our stakeholders,” he said.
Zafrul said with them as the group’s newest members, they would further strengthen the board given their credibility and stature. “The management team and I look forward to working with them,” he said.
Zafrul said Mohd Nasir has 35 years of experience in the area of finance and accounting and has held key positions in private and government-linked companies.
Currently, he sits on the Boards of Sumatec Resources Bhd, Bina Darulaman Bhd, Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC), Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Bhd, MIMOS Bhd and Prokhas Sdn Bhd. He is the Chairman of UKM Holdings Sdn Bhd and a member of the board of University Kebangsaan Malaysia, the Energy Commission, Listing Committee of Bursa Malaysia and the board of trustee of Yayasan Canselor UNITEN.
As for Lee, who is an adviser to the group chief executive officer of CIMB, with his new appointment, he will relinquish all the executive positions he holds within the group with effect from the same date.
