PETALING JAYA: The 17 suspected militants nabbed on Sunday were believed to be planning terror attacks against police stations and military camps, according to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).
The Home Minister said on Monday that police stations and military camps were targeted to obtain firearms.
He added that the suspects aged between 14 and 44 were planning bomb attacks as well as to abduct high-profile individuals.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted that the suspects, including two people who had recently returned from Syria, were detained by Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division personnel.
"As I mentioned before, I will never allow Malaysia to be a transit point or hideout for any terror groups.
"Congrats to the Counter Terrorism division for the excellent work," he said.
