Rise in sodomy cases involving boys, says group

MALACCA: Interest groups here are up in arms over the case of a boy who was allegedly sodomised by his school bus driver.
Malacca Action Group of Parents in Education (Magpie) chairman Mak Chee Kin said he has received information about such cases of sexual assaults.
“The perpetrators were mostly those entrusted to take care of the children.
“Unfortunately, they take the opportunity to assault the innocent ones,” he said.
The father of the five-year-old boy lodged a police report, claiming that his son complained of pain in the anus, besides describing what the bus driver did to him on March 13.
Mak also cited the case of a two-year-old boy from Gadek who was allegedly sodomised by his 52-year-old stepfather on March 3.
It is learnt that the 39-year-old mother had lodged a police report in Alor Gajah.
National 1Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation deputy chairman R.A. Saravana Theertha said the foundation found in its own survey that there was an alarming rise in cases of boys being sodomised.
Citing police statistics, he said there were 238 reports involving male victims throughout the country last year compared to 213 in 2013 and 172 in 2012.
Saravana highlighted a case in Sungai Sebauh in Bintulu, Sarawak where a 10-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by a family friend on March 1.
On March 1, a nine-year-old boy from Raub, Pahang was injured when he was allegedly sodomised, besides being forced to perform oral sex on two of his neighbours while his parents were away at work.
He said on March 7, an intruder entered the hostel room of a 12-year-old student in Taiping, Perak before allegedly attacking and sodomising him.
In December 2013, an eight-year-old boy from Rasa, Selangor was allegedly sodomised by his neighbour, who brought the child for a joyride.
“Our team also found a case in Taman Pelangi, Johor Baru where a 19-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by three men inside the toilet of a bus station in December 2013,” he said.
