PETALING JAYA: It was a tragic case of “being in the wrong place at the wrong time” for a 40-year-old supervisor who was allegedly killed after witnessing a murder at an entertainment outlet in Sungai Way here.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Abu Kassim said the woman could have been “silenced” after witnessing the murder of an Indonesian man by three armed men at around 1am yesterday.
He said the police, who were alerted to the incident at about 1.25am, found the supervisor’s body sprawled in a pool of blood on the pavement at a store.
“There were stab wounds on her chest and head. A plastic chair was lying nearby,” he added.
ACP Azmi said the body of the 34-year-old Indonesian man was discovered some 9m away, at the staircase leading to the entrance of the entertainment outlet located along Jalan PJS 8/13.
“It was leaning against the wall. A pocket knife was found on the victim,” he said.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage recorded three men, armed with parangs and chains, attacking the Indonesian man near the staircase. The attack purportedly lasted four minutes from 1.02am.
“Initial investigations revealed it could have been an act of vengeance, while we believe that the supervisor was killed for having witnessed the man’s murder,” said ACP Azmi.
Police have launched a manhunt for the three suspects, who are said to be locals.
The bodies have been sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
The case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
