KUALA LUMPUR: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) must abide by the Cabinet's decision regarding the deferral of the taxi and express bus fares, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (pic).
He said the announcement made by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin last Friday asking SPAD to postpone the fare hike is the Cabinet's decision.
"We give our 100% support to the Cabinet's decision," he told reporters at the parliament lobby on Monday.
Asked to response on the threat made by taxi operators that they will stage a protest in case they were directed to change to the old rate, Shahidan said that it was up to them to do so.
"That is the Cabinet's decision and it will not be changed," he added.
The Minister also noted that there were no need to issue an official directive as that is the Cabinet's stance and should be complied with by all stake holders.
