Siblings suffer trauma after treatment by 'bomoh' in Sarawak

SIBU: Three siblings went through a harrowing ordeal after their mother took them to a “bomoh” for traditional treatment.
The siblings, who had been treated every weekend by the “bomoh” since October last year, suffered burns on their bodies after the latter prodded them with burning incense.
Their father, a cook, discovered the children’s plight after his five-year-old son complained of chest pains on March 10.
Similar burn marks were also found on the boy's brother, aged six, and their sister, 10.
The eldest son told him that their mother had taken them to a “bomoh” in Bukit Lima for prayer rituals.
They were forced to kneel for hours holding a burning incense and would be prodded with it if they so much as move.
Sibu district police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi said police had detained a 30-year-old woman on Thursday to help in investigation and were hunting for the “bomoh” under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children's Act 2001.  -- BERNAMA
