GOMBAK, Feb 2, 2015:
Hindu devotees already gathered at Batu Caves for Thaipusam tomorrow received a shock when there was a blackout at 8.53pm tonight.
The place is still bathing in darkness at 11.20pm as the technical glitch that caused the blackout is yet to be fixed.
However, the rituals performed by the devotees went on as per normal, aided by flashlights.
This had also resulted in a glitch in Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali’s visit here tonight.
Azmin’s programme was moved to the stage below the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) overhead bridge, in front of the temple.
“This was something out of our control, but I would like to express my appreciation to the organisers. This is a technical issue,” Mohamed Azmin said during the press conference after giving his speech at the event.
