Police have arrested activist Lawrence Jayaraj for sedition,

Activist nabbed after comments on Anwar verdict

Police have arrested activist Lawrence Jayaraj for sedition, barely one hour after releasing Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) secretary-general S. Arutchelvan for the same offence.
Lawrence (pic) was picked up at his home in Cheras at 6.45pm, The Star Online reported, believed to be over a Facebook posting criticising Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy verdict.
The news portal quoted City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad as saying that the activist would be remanded tomorrow.
Arutchelvan was released about 5.40pm today after the Magistrate's Court rejected the police's remand application for investigations under the Sedition Act 1948.
Arul was detained at his house in Kajang yesterday evening and taken to the Dang Wangi police station. He had allegedly criticised the February 10 Federal Court verdict on Anwar's sodomy charge.
Police also seized his personal computer and other electronic equipment.
Inspector-general of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has gone on Twitter to warn of action against any one criticising the judiciary over Anwar's jailing.
Besides Arutchelvan, Khalid also named PKR leaders Rafizi Ramli, Fariz Musa and Dr Afif Bahardin, as well as DAP's Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming, for questioning the court decision. – February 20, 2015.
