ALOR SETAR: After six years of alleged domestic abuse, a 30-year-old cook finally obtained a divorce from her husband. Her ordeal did not end there – she is now fighting for her life on a hospital bed after what is said to be a botched kidnapping by the ex-husband.
It was learnt that Rosniza was riding her motorcycle from her home in Kampung Lengkuas, Bukit Pinang here, to her workplace in Jitra when her ex-husband allegedly grazed her machine with his Proton Waja.
She fell off the bike, but was believed to have put up a fight before she was overpowered and forced into the car.
She made a break for by jumping out of the speeding car but as she fell on the road in nearby Simpang Pinang Jaya, she was run over by another car.
Nasi lemak seller Nor Ain Abd Kadir, 57, said she saw the car speeding past her stall at about 6.30am yesterday.
“Suddenly, I heard a loud thump and saw a woman lying on the road with a strip of cloth coming off her hands,” she said.
She said passers-by ran to her rescue but could only watch helplessly as the second car ran over her and sped off.
Rosniza, whose divorce was finalised last month, is now at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital with serious injuries to her head and body, and a fractured right leg.
Met at the hospital, Rosniza’s mother said she suspected that it was her daughter’s ex-husband who tried to kidnap her.
“They were married for six years and she could no longer bear his abuse. They tried to divorce a few times but got back together.
Her mother also claimed that, after the divorce, the man tried to make a couple of attempts to hurt Rosniza.
Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Adzaman Mohd Jan confirmed the incident, adding that Rosniza’s bike was found damaged in Bukit Inas, Bukit Pinang.
He said police are looking for the ex-husband.
ACP Adzaman said police are looking for Rodhi Kasa, 53, from Titi Gajah here, to assist in investigations.
