SHAH ALAM: Two men, believed to be members of two different gangs, have been killed within four days of each other in Banting.
In the latest incident, a 26-year-old man was shot several times by unknown assailants while driving in Teluk Panglima Garang at around 11pm on Valentine’s Day.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the man was killed barely 2km away from his home in Taman Seri Bayu.
“We found four bullet casings at the scene,” he said at the Selangor police headquarters yesterday.
He said three men, aged between 26 and 29, were arrested at around 2.30pm yesterday in connection with the case.
The suspects, who have records for fighting and drug-related crimes, have been remanded until Saturday to help with investigations.
In the murder of another man in front of a shop in Jalan Pandang 2, Teluk Panglima Garang, last Wednesday, SAC Mohd Adnan said eight men have been arrested.
The 34-year-old man from Lorong Muhibbah 2, Jalan Bakar, Banting, was slashed while he was having drinks at about 11pm and died at the scene.
“The eight men, aged between 19 and 34, were arrested in two raids in Teluk Panglima Garang and Banting a day later. They include a Nepalese.
“Five of them have records for drug-related crimes and fighting,” he said, adding that all of them have been remanded until Wednesday.
“We are looking for 31-year-old Shanmugam Mohan from 14, Jalan Dendang 62, Taman Sahabat, Teluk Panglima Garang, in connection with this case,” he said, adding that although there was no evidence directly linking both cases, police were not ruling out the possibility that the two murders were connected.
SAC Mohd Adnan urged the public not to worry, saying police were dealing with the gang problem in the area.
“We will update the media on more arrests in the near future,” he said, urging anyone with information on the two cases to contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or the nearest police station.
