Ramadhan Buka Puasa Buffet @ The Mosaic, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur

During the Holy Month of Ramadhan, Itls a great time to break fast with family and friends. While there are many buka puasa offerings all over town, one has to be careful not  to over indulge in keeping with the spirit of Ramadhan.  It's a great feeling even for non Muslims to wait for that particular moment when then time to break fast comes and everyone breaks their fast together after a short prayer.

BEST FB @ KL hunt for the top 3 buka puasa buffets among the top 5 star hotels in the Klang Valley started with our visit to the Mosaic @ The Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.

Walking into the lobby you are greeted with the sweet sounds of a Gamelan Band that puts you in the mood for things to come.

Most hotels tend to transform their restaurant into a Malay Restaurant during Ramadhan concentrating on traditional Spiced up Malay food. However At the Mosaic there's a wide variety of food that will appeal to everyone. from the traditional Spicy Malay dishes to Japanese dishes.

Each Table gets  a variety of "Malay kueh" and some dates in anticipation of the moment to break fast.

Although the restaurant was completely full, the fact there was different cuisines, there was no rush for the food as everyone headed for their favourite corner to fill their plates.

The most popular station was of course the Malay station.

Malay  Style Mouth Watering Dishes - Sambal King Prawn, Crabs, Egg Briyani and much more @ Mandarin Oriental KL

The huge Sambal King Prawns, Crabs,  Chicken Rendang  and fish dishes were to die for. There was an explosion of spices in your mouth with every mouthful.. It was not too spicy but it was certainly tasty. All this over a an Egg Briyani that was full of flavor. The Ikan Bakar and Murtabak were also a crowd favourite.

The Indian Station complimented the Malay Station with a lovely lamb curry among the other curries,  tandoori chicken and naan.

The crowd favourite must have been the grilled corner judging from the lines in front of this station throughout the night. I decided not to wait any longer and joined the line. The Chicken Satay was really worth the wait. They had a variety of stuff available for you to have them grill. Everything you could imagine was there from sausages to lamb chops. The Roast Lamb was a sight to behold and amazingly tender and tasty.

A must have in all Ramadhan Buffets is the bubor lambok.

The free flow of Air Bandung, Teh Tarik, Nescafe Tarik and other juices kept the digestive tunnels well lubricated so that we could eat more.

The most memorable dish of the night was the Lemang and Rendang. It was simply among the best that i have tasted.  The tender rendang beef pieces with almost no fat at all was simply to die for.

Another crowd favourite was the Japanese Station.  The fare here was really fresh, they had some mouth melting sushi and sashimi, the most juiciest oysters and  the freshest scallops.

For those who love their noodles and pasta there was a Noodle Station.

The Variety of  Traditional Malay Kueh, Cakes, Desserts, Chocolates, Macaroons. Ice Cream and Fruits had many confirm this was their most favourite section. "Variety being the spice of life" was certainly depicted here.

The usual cold dishes, appetisers and salads were not forgotten but only the health conscious started with this section first. The rest headed for their favourites.
