Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Malaysian police and Interpol had a long-standing collaboration.
"The collaboration between Malaysia and Interpol has long existed and we share a strong relationship. As such, this allegation should not arise."
He said this after attending the "Evening with Rela Hulu Langat" programme at SMK (Integrasi) Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah here yesterday.
A report by United States-based ABC News Network yesterday quoted a senior Western law enforcement official as saying the Malaysian government had "repeatedly turned down assistance from Interpol to assist in its investigations".
It also claimed Interpol had offered help several times, but was declined each time.
On reports that pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was a lifetime PKR member, Zahid said this incident must not be politicised.
"The authorities are doing everything they can to solve this matter and we should not associate this with political beliefs.
"This is a matter of national security and we hope all Malaysians will continue to pray that we find MH370 soon."
Earlier, Zahid said RM500,000 would be allocated for repair and maintenance work of People's Volunteers Corps (Rela) community centres in Kajang.
Present were secretary-general of the Home Ministry Datuk Mohamad Khalid Shariff and director-general of Rela Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim.
